Beginning with the evolution of Chassidic mysticism—commencing with the Baal Shem Tov—the book’s narrative is ultimately drawn to the climactic nature of our present era. Penned as an encounter between two friends, Danni and Jay, the manuscript is interlaced with their animated interaction. This occurs as Danni, the more observant of the two, shares Chassidic insights with his disenfranchised friend, Jay, during a flight to Poland on an education Jewish Federation mission.
When Danni speaks out in Treblinka, it causes an inner shift in Jay, leaving him spiritually inspired and motivated. Yet, at the same time he grows increasingly perturbed over his seemingly insurmountable religious predicament. Danni eases Jay’s distress through the teachings of Chassidus as it relates to our particular age and to each individual.
In Jay’s character the author attempts to address the prevalent state of affairs within the broader Jewish community—the untold number of religiously challenged, due to a lack of Jewish education. How many Jays are out there?
The “creative literary” style of this book is designed to convey the core principles of Chassidic philosophy in a most palpable, user friendly fashion.
